A doula is a trained non-medical companion who supports another individual through a significant
health-related experience such as childbirth, miscarriage, induced abortion or stillbirth or non-
reproductive experiences such as dying. A doula may also provide support to the partner, family and friends.
While DoulaverCity does not accept insurance, we offer FlexPay options for select packages and add-ons to accommodate a variety budget needs. HSA/FSA payments are also accepted.
We offer virtual services for teleconsultation and routine check-ins with select packages.
DoulaverCity invites and supports new and expecting parents across the spectrum of family structures, faiths, body types, socioeconomic backgrounds, and racially/ethnically diverse identities to partner in a curated and exclusive birthing experience.
DoulaverCity does not exceed 6 clients per month. We limit Labor Only packages to three annually to reasonably accommodate each client and their unique needs.
DoulaverCity offers 3 in-home/virtual prenatal visits and one postpartum visit with Three60, the Complete Doula Package; and at least one weekly in-home postpartum visit with Earthside, the Postpartum Doula Package. Prenatal visits include wellness implementation, partner support, labor prep and preferences, postpartum prep, and more. Postpartum visit include, but are not limited to, breastfeeding/chestfeeding support, newborn care and sibling support, and referrals.
DoulaverCity engages partners throughout the entire process, as this experience is very much theirs as much as it is the birthing person.
DoulaverCity offers options to pay in full at the time of hire or FlexPay which allows for retainer as determined by the package selected and remaining balance three weeks before the end of the contract.
DoulaverCity offers a maximum of 12 hours of support before reserving the right to call in a backup doula for continuity of care.
In the event of any extenuating circumstance or labor exceeds the 12-hour time limit, DoulaverCity will make every attempt possible to provide a backup doula within the practice, in which case, all fees remain the same. If unable to provide a backup doula (half of payments) will be returned and no further charges will be incurred within 30 days. While clients have the right to refuse the backup doula, all fees remain the same.
DoulaverCity offers two weeks following consultations for decisions to hire a doula.
The founding doula of DoulaverCity has been trained and certified as a doula practitioner through the National Black Doula Association. She also holds professional licensure as a speech-language pathologist through DC and Maryland and certificate of clinical competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
DoulaverCity offers specializations with infant and feeding development, placenta encapsulation, fertility support, and medically fragile infants.
